GARLIC PEPPER CHICKEN

This is a delicious and flavorful chicken gravy made using black pepper powder and garlic cloves. The gravy goes well with both rice and chapati.

Ingredients

250 gms chicken washed and cut into pieces
2 tbsp oil
1 Big onion finely chopped
1 cardamom
1 cinnamon
2 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp ginger paste
6 to 8 cloves of garlic
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp black pepper powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
4 tomatoes pureed
¼ cup curd
½ tsp salt
Coriander and mint leaves chopped
juice of ¼ lemon

Method
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cardamom, cinnamon and the chopped onions, and saute for some time.
  • Then add garlic paste and ginger paste and cook till the raw smell goes.
  • Next add the tomatoes, pepper powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  • When the oil starts separating, add the chicken pieces, garlic cloves, and curd. Mix well so that there are no lumps in the gravy.
  • Finally add coriander and mint leaves, 2 cups of water and stir well.
  • Close the lid and pressure cook for 10 minutes.
  • Then remove the lid, and add lemon juice and bring to a boil. Cook till the gravy thickens.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or chapati.
