PUNJABI CHICKEN CURRY RECIPE WITH VIDEO




Punjabi chicken curry is a delicious and flavourful chicken delicacy. It is easy to prepare and can be cooked in less than half an hour. Here I have used pressure cooker to reduce cooking time. This curry tastes great with pulao, naan, plain rice, idiyappam, dosa, or idlis.


Serves = 6                                                              
Ingredients

500 gms chicken
4 tbsp oil
2 Cardamoms
2 cinnamon
2 large onions pureed
5 big tomatoes puréed
1/2 cup curd
2 tsp garlic paste
2 tsp ginger paste
2 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1/4 turmeric powder
2 tsp cumin powder
2 tsp Salt (or to taste)
Coriander leaves chopped
2 garam masala powder







Method

  • Clean and wash the chicken and keep ready. 
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cardamoms, cinnamons and onion paste. Saute for  few seconds.
  • Next add garlic and ginger paste and cook till the raw smell goes.
  • Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well. Cook for about 2 minutes. 
  • Now add tomato puree and cook in low flame for a couple of minutes.
  • Next add curd, garam masala powder and coriander leaves.  
  • Finally add the chicken pieces along with 1 cup water and close the lid of the pressure cooker and pressure cook for 3 whistles. 
  • Open the lid of the cooker and check if the chicken is cooked.
  • Then transfer to a bowl and garnish with coriander leaves. 
  • Serve hot with pulao, naan, plain rice, idiyappam, dosa, or idlis.
