Onion pakoda is a crispy and delicious fritter that is quick and easy to make. It tastes best when served hot with tea or coffee.
Ingredients
2 onions thinly sliced
1 cup gram flour (besan)
1 tbsp rice flour
2 tsp ginger garlic paste
2 green chillies deseeded and thinly sliced
Salt to taste
2 tsp oil
A few drops of water
a pinch of asafoetida powder
5 curry leaves thinly sliced
Oil for frying
Method
- Take gram flour, rice flour, ginger garlic paste, green chillies, curry leaves, asafetida, oil and salt in a bowl and mix well.
- Add sliced onions and a few drops of water and mix to form a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a pan and when oil is hot, drop small quantities of the batter carefully in oil and deep fry the pakodas till golden brown in colour.
- Transfer the pakoda to a tissue paper and serve hot with tea or coffee.
