HOW TO STITCH A BACK NECK OPENING

A back neck opening can be stitched on a frock, top, kameez or kurta. In this post I am sharing an easy method of making a back opening.

First take the back piece and make a cut at the centre of about 5" or 6". Take a lining cloth (or in case you are not using a lining, take another piece of cloth such that it will cover the entire back neck area), and cut the neck using the same measurements.

Now take the two cloths and make sure that the correct sides are inwards and you get to see the reverse part of the cloth, and stitch at about 1/4" from the cut as shown.

Turn the cloth to the correct side and stitch on top as shown.

The neck opening at the back is stitched and ready. You can now stitch the front and back pieces of the kameez or top together along the shoulders. And then take a matching piece of cloth and do a piping along the neck starting from 'a' and going all along the front neck and then ending at 'b'.

Stitch a button and a hook or loop to finish the back neck opening.
