Jam cookies are one of the most simplest and easiest cookies to bake. They are often made using flour, butter, sugar and eggs. But I have not used any eggs in this recipe. The Jam cookies get baked in just 15 minutes and taste delicious. This recipe makes approximately 8 Jam cookies. You can increase the proportions of ingredients to make more cookies.

2/3 cup Maida (All purpose flour)
1/3 cup unsalted butter
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/3 tsp baking powder
½ tsp vanilla essence
Milk (1 or 2 tsp if necessary)
2 tbsp mixed fruit Jam

  • Keep all the ingredients of the recipe ready and make sure that the butter is at room temperature but has not melted.
  • Take a bowl, add butter and powdered sugar and mix well with a whisk to form a smooth paste.
  • Then add vanilla essence and mix well.
  • Next add maida and baking powder and knead to form a smooth but firm dough. (Add milk only if necessary).
  • Preheat the oven at 160 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile grease a baking aluminium tray and keep ready.
  • Pinch small balls from the dough and flatten them to form a circle.
  • Gently press in the middle of the cookies using your thumb or a wooden spoon to make a cavity.
  • Fill the center with 1/4 tsp of jam and place the cookies on the aluminium baking tray.
  • Place the tray in the central rack of the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes (with upper and lower rods on) or until the lower part turns slightly brown and upper part looks firm.
  • (Tip: You can open the door of the oven after about 15 minutes and use a spatula to move the cookies. If it moves easily from its place, then it’s done)
  • Remove the baking tray from the oven and allow the cookies to cool down completely.
  • Serve the Jam cookies with tea or coffee or transfer the cookies to an airtight container to munch later.
