Pizza is a famous Italian dish. It has become popular all around the world for its wonderful taste and flavours. Depending on the toppings used, there are different types of Pizzas. Vegetarian and non vegetarian pizzas, Paneer pizzas, there are so many different flavours to choose from. And we can make this yummy pizza at home with toppings of our choice.

In this post, I am going to share the recipe of making Pizza Sauce. The pizza sauce tastes so delicious that you would be tempted to use it with Chapathis or as a dip with Snacks.

I usually make a batch of this pizza sauce and freeze it in a glass bottle. When required, I keep the Pizza Sauce outside the refrigerator for a few hours, and use it as required and keep the remaining back into the freezer. This way, since my Pizza sauce is ready, I use it to make pizzas anytime at home without spending much time in the kitchen. You can also use this Pizza Sauce to make Chapathi pizza, Dosa Pizza, etc... The list is endless. Do try out the recipe of making Pizza sauce at home and I am sure you will find your Pizzas taste so good and actually better than the Pizzas that you get in Pizza joints, because these are prepared with love in a clean and hygienic environment and using toppings which you like.

Now, let's head on to the recipe of making the Best Pizza Sauce at home!

Ingredients required for making Pizza sauce

3 large tomatoes
2 tbsp oil
1 onion finely chopped
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
2 tsp tomato sauce


  • Cut tomatoes into small pieces, remove seeds and add them to 2 cups of boiling water.
  • Cook for about 10 minutes and then switch off the gas. Drain the water from the tomatoes and keep ready.
  • Heat oil in a non stick pan, add garlic and saute for a few seconds. 
  • Next add onions and saute till the onions turn golden.
  • Add the cooked tomatoes, red chilli powder, salt, oregano, red chilli flakes, sugar and tomato sauce and mix well.
  • Cook for 2 to 3 minutes and switch off the gas.
  • Allow the mix to cool down completely and grind to a smooth paste.
  • Our Pizza sauce is ready.
  • You can store this Pizza sauce in an air tight container or glass jar and freeze it for later use.

You can use this Pizza sauce over a Pizza base, Bread or even Chapathi or Dosa :)
Increase the proportion of ingredients to make more quantity of  Pizza Sauce and store it for later use.
