VEGETABLE AND CHEESE BREAD PIZZA

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog! Today I am sharing a quick recipe of Vegetable and Cheese Bread pizza. Bread pizza is a great snack to try when you have a craving for pizza and do not have much time to make a pizza base. Bread pizza just needs a pizza sauce and veggies and cheese and you can get all this ready in just half an hour.

Vegetable and Cheese bread pizza is one of my daughter's favourite snacks and I often give this to her after she comes home from school. Bread pizza is easy to assemble as I always have a small bottle of home made pizza sauce ready in my freezer. I just keep it out for a few hours, use the pizza sauce as required and put it back in the freezer. Home made pizza sauce and oregano makes this bread pizza taste so much similar to a regular pizza that you get in pizza joints.

Bread pizza is a great snack option as it gets ready in no time and is an easy way to make your kids eat veggies. I added grated carrots in this recipe along with Tomatoes, onions and Capsicums. I have also tried making Bread pizza with blanched and sliced spinach, paneer and other veggies too and these are equally delicious.

Now, lets head on to our recipe of making Vegetable and Cheese Bread pizza at home.

Ingredients

4 slices Sandwich bread
6 to 7 tbsp pizza sauce (Recipe below)
1 onion finely sliced
1 tomato finely chopped
1/4 capsicum cut into small pieces
1 small carrot, skin peeled and grated
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp chilli flakes
Cheese (I have used cheese slices as I did not get mozzarella cheese. But grated Mozzarella cheese is the best)

For the pizza sauce

3 large tomatoes
2 tbsp oil
1 onion finely chopped
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
2 tsp tomato sauce

Method

To make Pizza sauce

  • Cut tomatoes into small pieces, remove seeds and add them to 2 cups of boiling water.
  • Cook for about 10 minutes and then switch off the gas. Drain the water from the tomatoes and keep ready.
  • Heat oil in a non stick pan, add garlic and saute for a few seconds.
  • Next add onions and saute till the onions turn golden.
  • Add the cooked tomatoes, red chilli powder, salt, oregano, red chilli flakes, sugar and tomato sauce and mix well.
  • Cook for 2 to 3 minutes and switch off the gas.
  • Allow the mix to cool down completely and grind to a smooth paste.
  • Our Pizza sauce is ready.

Method to make Vegetable and Cheese Bread Pizza

  • Take the bread slices, remove the edges and keep ready. (You can use the edges to make bread crumbs)
  • Heat a non stick pan in low flame with a lid for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Arrange the bread slices on  wooden board, add a few tsp of pizza sauce to each bread slice and spread evenly.
  • Add onions, grated carrot, capsicum, and tomato on each bread slice.
  • Top it with some oregano, red chilli flakes and cheese.
  • Place one bread slice inside the pan and close the lid.
  • Cook in low flame for about 5 minutes or till the cheese melts.
  • In the same way, make the remaining Bread pizzas.
  • Cut each Bread pizza into two diagonally.
  • Serve hot.

  1. This is a fun recipe and loaded with goodness of vegetables and children favourite bread and cheese. Wonder if by buttering the side of the bread that is placed on the non stick pan would make the base little more crispier?
