JELLY AND TAPIOCA PEARL DRINK

Hi all, welcome back to my blog. As Ramadan is just a few days away, I thought of sharing a refreshing and delicious drink that both kids and elders would like. You can prepare this Jelly and Tapioca Pearl drink for Iftar during Ramadan.

On other days, you can prepare this drink when you have guests visiting your home or on any day when you wish to drink something chilled and delicious. In this recipe, I have not added any rose syrup, the pink color is because of the Raspberry Jelly that I have used.

So, let's move on to the recipe of making Jelly and Tapioca pearl drink

Serves: 3 medium glasses (you can increase the proportion of ingredients if you are making more servings)
Ingredients

1 cup Cooked Jelly cut into very small pieces (I used Weikfield Raspberry flavored jelly 90 gms)
1/2 cup Sago/ Sabudana/ Tapioca pearls
1 and 1/2 cups milk (boiled and cooled)
1 tsp basil seeds/ sabja seeds
1/2 cup condensed milk (or more to taste)

Method

  • Soak the basil seeds in 1/4 cup water and set aside for 1 or 2 hours.(The seeds will soak in water and double in volume.)
  • Soak the Tapioca pearls in water for at least 30 minutes. Then drain the water.
  • Boil 2 cups water in a pan and add the Tapioca pearls. Cook for a few minutes till the tapioca pearls turn transparent and then again drain the water. Keep the tapioca pearls ready in a bowl.
  • Cook the Jelly according to the instructions in the packet and pour the jelly into a wide square tray.
  • Once it cools down (approximately 30 minutes), refrigerate the jelly for at least 15 minutes, then cut it into small pieces and keep ready.
  • Now take a wide bowl, add chilled milk, condensed milk, jelly, basil seeds and tapioca pearls. (Of the whole Jelly, I added only 1/2 of it. I used the remaining jelly in making a dessert.)
  • Mix well and transfer the drink to glasses.
  • Jelly and Tapioca drink is ready to be served.
