SHORBA/ HEALTHY MUTTON BONE CURRY

 


Shorba is a healthy and delicious curry made using Mutton with bones or only Mutton bones. It is often recommended for kids and elders alike when there is need to build strength and immunity. Shorba or Mutton Soup is often served with plain rice and is usually mildly flavored.

Let's move on to the recipe of making Mutton Shorba at home

Ingredients

200 gms Mutton with bones
2 tbsp oil
1 onion finely chopped
1 tsp garlic paste
2 small tomatoes deseeded and pureed
1/4 tsp red chilli powder
1/8 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
3 cups water
handful of chopped coriander leaves

Method

  • Wash and keep the mutton pieces ready.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add onions and saute for a few minutes till the onions turn soft and golden.
  • Then add garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes.
  • Next add tomato puree, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, coriander powder and cumin powder and mix well.
  • Cook for a couple of minutes till oil starts separating.
  • Then add Mutton pieces, coriander leaves and water and mix well.
  • Close the lid of the pressure cooker and pressure cook for 8 whistles.
  • Once done, allow the steam to come out and open the lid.
  • Transfer the Mutton Shorba to a serving bowl and serve hot with Cooked rice.
