This is a no fuss recipe of Ribbon pakoda that needs very few ingredients, get cooked in less than 30 minutes, and tastes awesome. This Ribbon pakoda does not absorb excess oil and is way better and healthier than the packed Ribbon pakoda packets you get from shops.

1 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)

Pinch of asafoetida

2 tsp hot Oil

Oil for frying

  • In a bowl, add rice flour, gram flour, red chilli powder, salt, Asafoetida, and mix well.
  • Add 2 tsp hot Oil and give it a nice mix.
  • Now add some water and mix to form a soft dough.
  • Take a Sev press and grease with oil.
  • Take a small ball of dough and place it inside the Sev press.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and reduce flame to low.
  • Press the sev press slightly above oil and let the thin strands fall on the oil.
  • Increase the flame to medium and fry the ribbon pakoda for a minute then flip and fry on the other side.
  • Transfer to a plate and allow it to cool down completely.
  • In the same way make more Ribbon pakoda.
  • Once the Ribbon pakoda has cooled down completely, transfer it to an Air tight container and serve.
  • This stays fresh for 2 to 3 days.
