This is another chicken recipe from my mother. The curry is moderately spicy and creamy and tastes great with anything, be it rice, chapathi, dosas, or upma.
Ingredients
300 gms chicken
3 tbsp oil
1 onion chopped
1 tbsp grated garlic
1 tbsp grated ginger
1 tsp cumin powder
1 onion ground to a paste
3 tomatoes pureed
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp salt
½ cup curd
½ tsp garam masala powder
1 tbsp soya sauce
½ cup fresh cream
1 cup water
Handful of coriander leaves
Method
- Heat oil in a pan, add onions and saute till the onions turn golden.
- Toss in grated garlic and ginger and saute till the raw smell goes.
- Add cumin powder and ground onion paste and cook for a couple of minutes.
- Next add tomato puree and cook till the oil starts separating.
- Then add red chilli powder, pepper powder, coriander powder, salt and curd.
- Mix well and add chicken and coriander leaves. Give a quick stir, add water and bring the curry to a boil. Add more water if you want.
- Cook for a minute and add garam masala, cream and soya sauce.
- Mix well and continue to cook in high flame for 2 to 3 minutes, then reduce heat, close a lid and cook the curry for about 10 minutes or till the chicken is done.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
