DONUT RECIPE/ HOW TO MAKE EGG LESS DONUTS AT HOME

Donuts are small, soft and sweet treats that are a favourite among kids and adults alike. From Sugar to chocolate sauce to sweet glaze, the way we can customize the Donuts according to our choice is endless. Donuts are easy to prepare and the only thing that it requires is Time. We have to let the yeast work and wait for the dough to double in size to get that Perfect Donut that is soft inside and crispy outside.

Here I have dipped some of the donuts in chocolate sauce and some in plain sugar.

Ingredients

1 cup all purpose flour/ Maida
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp sugar
pinch of salt
1 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
1/4 cup warm milk (or as needed)

For proofing the yeast

1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 cup warm milk

For the chocolate sauce

Ingredients

1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
3/4 tbsp butter
1 tbsp milk
1/8 tsp vanilla essence

Method
  • Sieve powdered sugar and cocoa powder in a bowl.
  • Add butter, milk and vanilla essence and beat well with a whisk or hand blender till everything comes together.
  • The chocolate sauce is now ready.

Method

  • Take warm milk in a bowl, add sugar and mix till the sugar dissolves.
  • Then add Active dry yeast and mix till the yeast dissolves. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, take flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a bowl and mix.
  • Add butter and the yeast mix and mix well.
  • Add warm milk if necessary and knead to make a soft sticky dough.
  • Continue kneading for 5 to 10 minutes. Add a tsp of oil all around the dough and close a lid.
  • Place the dough in a warm place and let it rise for 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours.
  • After the dough has doubled in size, punch the dough and knead for another 1 minute.
  • Dust some flour on a flat surface and roll the dough to form a circle of 1/2" thickness.
  • Take 2 lids, one big and one small (or cookie cutters) and cut the dough to make donut shapes.
  • Place the prepared donuts on a separate sheet.
  • Join the holes and the rest of the dough and again roll and make donut shapes and place the donuts in the sheet.

  • Allow all the donuts to rise for atleast 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the donuts in medium flame till they turn golden in colour.
  • Transfer to an absorbent paper or tissue.

  • When the Donuts are still warm dip them in sugar.
  • Dip the donuts in chocolate sauce and place on a wire rack.
  • Sprinkle sugar on top (optional) and serve.
