Rasam is one of the most favoured curry in Tamil Nadu. It is a tangy curry made with tamarind with a hint of spices and onions. Today’s recipe is of a tangy Tomato Pepper rasam that we make often at home. This is my mom-in-law’s recipe that is simply delicious. SCHOOL PROJECT DIY WITH CHAMKIS
I like doing crafts and DIY at home as they are a great stress busters and bring out my creativity. This time for her school exercise, my 3 and half year old daughter was given two printouts of parrot and mango and they had to be decorated creatively according to our choice. VEGETABLES AND CHEESE STUFFED EGG DIP SANDWICH
Vegetables and cheese stuffed egg dip sandwich is a quick, nutritious and filling recipe of sandwich which is ideal for your kids lunch box. Here a filling is made with vegetables and cheese and then placed between the bread slices. The bread slices are then dipped in the egg mix and grilled on a skillet. The egg binds the bread slices together and the filling does not come out. Hence it is a spill free and no fuss sandwich.

I have grown up eating Mutton and Chicken Sutriyan right from my childhood. Just the very name of the dish brings back fond memories. My mother and grand mother made delicious Sutriyan at home. So, during weekends or summer holidays, when we kids were free, we would help our mom in making the home made pasta that is added to the Yakhni/ Chicken or Mutton gravy while preparing Sutriyan.
TAMATAR AUR ANDE KA BARBOOTH/ BOILED EGGS IN TOMATO GRAVY
Barbooth or barboot is a traditional tomato based curry recipe that is often prepared in the north arcot district of Tamil Nadu and is served with moong dal khichdi. The combination of khichdi and barboot tastes delicious and is often served for lunch. The main thing that distinguishes this recipe is that it uses plenty of tomatoes and does not require ginger garlic paste that is quintessential for preparing most Indian curries.
TOMATO RICE
Tomato rice is a delicious and flavourful rice that you can easily prepare and pack for lunch. It needs very few ingredients and gets done in just about 15 minutes. I pressure cook the rice and while the rice is cooking, I prepare the tomato gravy to be mixed with the rice. You can have tomato rice as it is or can serve with any poriyal or side dish of your choice. Tomato rice also tastes great with mango or garlic pickle.

Cookies are a great tea time snacks. You do not need a sewing machine for this (though you can make one with it) as you can do the basic stitches with needle and thread. The holy month of Ramadan is going on and a variety of dishes are prepared for iftar which are a blend of some healthy, some calorie rich along with fruits, milkshakes and sherbets. I mostly prepare dishes for iftar which are not very time consuming and are very easy to make. This recipe of Kheema bites is one such recipe. I have already shared in my earlier post, that I prepare spicy kheema filling in advance as everybody at home loves it and it has to be in some form or other at the iftar table. Kheema samosa, kheema omelette, kheema paratha, kheema wraps are some dishes made with kheema filling. Here too I have filled the small bites or rolls with kheema and then fried them in oil.

Custard is the first sweet that comes to my mind when I get a sudden call from relatives visiting my home in an hour.
